What's Brewing in Milwaukee
By KBC Tour Company, LLC Milwaukee is known as “Brew City” for its history of great brewers such as Pabst, Schlitz, Blatz and Miller. Times have changed, but the mark that the beer barons made on the city still remains. On this tour, we’ll take a look at why Milwaukee was so synonymous with beer and what’s currently happening to keep the beer flowing.
As we travel through the city your guide will provide background and history of the breweries, taverns and other notable buildings built with “beer money”. We’ll see the renovation that has taken place in three of Milwaukee’s former downtown breweries, including the Pabst Brewery where we’ll visit Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery. We’ll also tour the Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion, a beautiful Flemish Renaissance mansion, which was the final home of Milwaukee’s most famous beer baron.
Lunch will be in the former Brown Bottle Guest Hall and Hospitality Room of the Schlitz Brewery. “The Beer that made Milwaukee Famous”
Of course, we’ll take a brewery tour, and Miller Brewery - where it’s always Miller Time - will be the place. We’ll see packaging, distribution and the brewhouse as well as the historic caves where beer was stored prior to pasteurization. Then it is off to sample in the Miller Inn – Cheers!
We’ll then explore the latest brewery trends and focus on some of Milwaukee’s microbreweries, many which have been producing award-winning beers as well as gourmet sodas. We’ll take a look at the brewing process and then have an opportunity to do a tasting of some of the different ales, pilsners and stouts paired with other great Wisconsin products.
